One of the things that all of us need to do for our website, our blog, our hubpages, or Squidoo lenses is to get the word out about them. Help people to find out about what we have to say or what we have to sell.

The internet is not one of those places where the addage "If you build it - they will come" works. Promoting yourself and your ideas is a task that we all need to do.

I can recommend one place to get that very job done. She Told Me offers a place to submit your website, blog, hubpages, ehow articles, and Squidoo lens. There is a bonus...you can earn money from the advertising that shows on your content. How cool is that?

If you have a small business today, you probably know that you need to have an online presence of some sort. Many owners of businesses just don't know where to start. The internet is so massive and creating something that will get you noticed can be daunting to say the least.

One lady in Rock Hill, SC has decided to give her local businesses a boost by opening a business of her own to help create an online presence for them. Joan Adams has opened the doors to Granny Geek. She plans to create little mini websites for Rock Hill merchants and business showcasing what they have to offer to the community and the world.

Granny Geek, Joan Adams, is already a master at this technique on Squidoo having created over 100 quality lenses. She is a Giant Squid, member of the Giant 100 Club, a Giant Greeter, and a Squid Angel. If you are not a member of Squidoo, you might not realize that these are not easily earned titles. Joan is remarkable in all she does.

If you would like to know more about Joan's services, read about Granny Geek....

We wish you much success Joan!

America is supposed to be one of the richest countries in the world, if not the richest. Yet poverty in the United States is growing by leaps and bounds. Tom Stone created a photo essay on the homeless in our country that is so moving, so heartbreaking, and unfortunately a reality that we should all be thinking about.

A dear friend of mine has written a piece honoring Tom's work and also calling attention to this problem that grows each day. The black and white photos will tear at your heart and I believe that you will never be able to look at a homeless person the same after you read Mimi's work.

One of her readers said this, "probably the greatest gift Tom ever gave these people was acknowledging their existence" and that is so true.

I would love for you to visit Homeless in America and leave a comment for both MiMi the lensmaster who has such a loving heart that she chose to feature Tom's work and for Tom the man who acknowledged the people in the photos.

It just may be the most powerful thing you have read in a very long time.

There is a new group for men on the internet that I would like for my readers to know about. It is called Factor Y and was started by a friend of mine Alex Crabtree. Alex is also a fellow lensmaster on Squidoo and is known there as Drifter0658. Alex and I met last Spring while we were both trying to obtain our Giant Squid status. He is an incredibly fine writer and very witty.

To better inform you about Alex's new venture, I asked him for a short interview. I figured the information would best come straight from him about his newly formed group.

Bev: What prompted you to start a group for men on the internet?
Alex: First and foremost the motivating factor was the RocketMoms program at Squidoo. The support and quality shining through from that group is nothing short of inspirational.

As I began to consider a group for men, I had to ask myself why. What real purpose would it serve? Researching that question turned upon what turns out to be some very obvious answers. One of which is men being the gender minority in Internet usage. This being the case, women have had a huge head start in the area of making money online. They have a leg up on the ins and outs, and with the economic atmosphere being in a volatile upheaval, more men are turning to the Internet to pad their pockets. We need help.

Another reason is the way men use the Internet. We are nowhere near as focused as we need to be to apply the tools that are laying around. We need to quit channel surfing and work a plan.

In short, I put this group together to catch the leading edge of a change that is sweeping the surface of the Internet.

Bev: How many men have signed up for Session 1?
Alex: We have 15 men right now and have two more spots available. Joining late would not be a shortcoming due to the structure of the group and the power of support.

Bev: Will you have weekly assignments for the guys to produce for Squidoo on specific topics as the RocketMoms do?
Alex: Yes. One of the stated goals is to show how powerful Squidoo is as a tool to gain an advantage, and creating lenses makes for excellent exercises.

Bev: What is the most exciting thing that has happened so far?
Alex: Outside of the buzz created by all the incredibly cool outside support, it has to be all the buzz created inside the group. Even before the doors officially opened, there were numerous discussions and lessons posted in the forums and classrooms.

Bev: Were you surprised by the female support that you have received for Factor Y?
Alex: That is truly a tough question. On one hand I'd have to say no because the women of the community are by and large very supportive and have the biggest hearts I've ever seen, yet the amount of support has been nothing short of overwhelming.

So, how can you find out more about Factor Y? You can visit the official blog at Factor Y or you can also read Alex's lens about it on Squidoo - Factor Y ~ Supporting Male Lensmasters.

I predict that these gentleman will become a driving force in the future of the internet. I wish them the very best and look forward to the contributions they make along the way. Congrats to Alex and the guys on their new adventure!
